What is the Black Dragon Fighting Society?

The formal corporation that holds Kōga-ryū Ninjutsu on this planet. It is not a franchise and not a federation of clubs. It is the custodian of a single transmission: the structure is guarded, refined and passed on — never performed.

Does ryū mean “school” or does it mean “dragon”?

The dictionaries give you 流 — flow, current, style, a lineage of technique. That is the scribes' reading, and it is not ours. We are 竜 and 龍: the dragon. Kōka-ryū, in this house, is the Kōka dragon, not the Kōka style. Everything on this site is written from that reading.

Why “Golden-Black” Dragon?

Every member of the Society is a black dragon — a warrior of shadow. A few come to understand what power actually is and turn toward the light; those are the golden-black. It is an evolution inside the same lineage, not a separate order. Grandmasters of that stream have historically worn red rather than black.

What is the difference between Iga and Kōka?

They were allies, not enemies — a mutual defence pact from 1487 protecting self-governed mountain regions. What separated them was the choice made under pressure: Iga went on as pure warriors, Kōka carried the art forward as artists and custodians. What are 竜 and 龍 to a practitioner?

竜 is living structure — the ninja, the shadow warrior, the thing that metabolises pressure into method. 龍 is the ancient guardian — the philosopher and educator who holds the boundary of the art across generations. How do I begin?

Read the How to begin page, then send an enquiry through the form there. It reaches the house directly. You will be pointed to a dojo or to a sensei who takes students remotely, depending on where you are.

Do I need previous martial arts experience?

No. Prior rank in another art is recorded, not assumed — it is entered as its own discipline with its own years, and it does not shorten the ladder here.

The teaching vessel of the Society — the Modern Arts of Life. It is how the transmission meets a living student in a modern world without softening it.

How do ranks and years work?

Rank records years spent, not intentions declared. Each art has its own ladder, and each ladder states the years it demands. A member may hold rank in several disciplines at once; the site shows the highest rank held across all of them, with the years of each.

Can rank be bought or accelerated?

No. Time in the art cannot be purchased, accelerated or negotiated.

How is membership granted?

It is granted, not bought. You request entry, the house reviews the request, and an approved member receives a profile in the register.

What does the Inner Court give me?

Your own record — disciplines, ranks and years — the chambers, the member wiki, your school's private transmissions, and the parts of the scroll archive your standing allows.

Is there a paid tier?

Yes. A supporting membership carries the sealed archive and the forbidden scrolls. Membership standing is still granted by the house; payment does not grant entry on its own.

Can an account be deleted?

No. Knowledge is not removed from a student. Accounts are enabled or disabled, never erased.

What is the golden dragon stamp?

A verification mark on approved grandmasters, carrying the date from which the honour was held. It is issued by the house, not claimed.

What are the scrolls?

Written transmissions of the lineage — doctrine, method and commentary — published in the Scrolls library. Some are open to any reader; some are held for members.

Why are some scrolls sealed?

Material that is dangerous, incomplete out of context, or reserved for a level is sealed. It exists in the archive, encrypted, and opens only to the standing that may read it.

How does verification work?

Every scanned page is fingerprinted with SHA-256 and bound into a batch tree. Anyone can paste a fingerprint into the verification page and confirm whether that exact page belongs to the archive — without the page itself ever being exposed.

What are the scroll plates and NFTs?

A scroll plate is the artwork bound to a scroll's record and its fingerprint. Plates may be minted as collectibles — the Tōmi Maki collection first — with the scroll's hash carried in the metadata. The scroll itself is never sold; the plate is a witness to it.
